The company designs and manufactures shooting targets from SSAB SR500 ballistic steel — a proprietary high-hardness alloy that exceeds AR500 in impact resistance, longevity, and resistance to pitting. Every STUSA target is fabricated in-house, laser-cut or plasma-cut, welded, and tested before shipping. ## Why SR500 Steel?

Most steel target manufacturers use AR500 (Abrasion Resistant) steel with a Brinell hardness of approximately 500 HBW. STUSA exclusively uses SR500 (Shot-blast Resistant) steel from SSAB, which achieves a higher and more consistent hardness rating. Benefits include:

**What kind of steel do you use?**
We use exclusively SSAB SR500 ballistic steel for all of our premium targets. This provides superior hardness, durability, and impact resistance compared to standard AR500 steel.

**How thick are the targets?**
Our targets are available in 3/8" and 1/2" thicknesses. We recommend 3/8" for pistol and standard rifle calibers, and 1/2" for heavy rifle calibers and magnum rounds.

**What is your warranty?**
We offer a Limited Lifetime Warranty against manufacturing defects. If a weld breaks or the target fails under normal intended use within the specified caliber ratings, we'll replace it.

**Do you offer military or law enforcement discounts?**

**How long does shipping take?**
Most orders ship within 1-3 business days. Custom targets or very large orders may take 5-7 business days to process before shipping.

For pistol calibers: minimum 10 yards on 3/8" steel. For rifle calibers (.223/5.56): minimum 100 yards on 3/8" steel. For .308/7.62: minimum 100 yards on 1/2" steel. Always wear appropriate hearing and eye protection.
